The Secret Behind the World’s Best Tasting Coconut Water

People have been asking “who is behind Coaqua?”. Simply answered, it's us, Grier and Steve, two kiwi entrepreneurs who met in a Railay Beach bar and together had an idea: to source the best tasting coconut water in the world and bottle it in glass. 

And that’s what we did.

We traveled through Southern Thailand and the Philippines in search of the best coconut water in South East Asia, a region where wet and warm conditions make the ideal environment for coconut trees to thrive. Journeying by motorbikes, we wound our way back to the lush waterways of the Mekong Delta in Southern Vietnam where coconut trees grow so abundantly it’s known locally as, well, the “land of the coconut”. Here, in it’s natural habitat, we found and bottled the best tasting coconut water in the world...

...with an added twist…

We were gifted a secret recipe to help activate the natural flavor of the coconut. Our good friend, Laan, shared his grandmother's Southern Thailand technique of gently heating the fresh coconut on a bed of charcoal before leaving it to cool. 

Today, we use the same method during production to bring out the natural coconut flavor in coaqua. And that's why it tastes better.
