COCONUT WATER FAQ's
WHY IS COAQUA SWEET?
The simple answer is we get our coconuts when they are still green and young. Coconut water exists to feed the coconut during its growth phase - that's why it is packed with nutrients. A coconuts water's natural sweetness peaks at about 6 months and after that, all that taste has migrated into the flesh.
WHY DOES COAQUA NOT TASTE EXACTLY THE SAME AS A RAW COCONUT?
The same reason why orange juice tastes different compared to freshly squeezed orange. The coconut water goes through a pasteurisation process before going into the bottle. See more about this below. The process is very simple and it means that instead of lasting 3 days the water is good for a year.
IS THERE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COCONUT WATER AND COCONUT MILK?
There certainly is, a big difference. Coconut water is the clear, electrolyte-rich liquid from inside young coconuts and contains no fat and no cholesterol. On the other hand coconut milk, is produced from grating the “meat” of older, brown coconuts: a white, rich liquid containing oils and fat.
DOES COCONUT WATER TASTE AND COLOUR VARY?
Coconut waters from different parts of the world have variations in taste and colour. Please note that taste and colour may vary. This is completely normal and part of the ‘naturalness’. It is not uncommon for the colour to shift from a milky white to a yellowish hue. This is due to variations in temperature, UV exposure and naturally occurring processes in the water. The only way to ensure 'exact' unchanging colour and taste is by using additives...which we don't want to do.
IS COAQUA ORGANIC?
All coconut plantations are basically organic, however, all farms are not certified organic. We source our coconuts from many small farms in Southern Vietnam. Currently it would be very tricky for these small farms to get certified organic. Some big commercial farms in other areas in SE Asia are certified but we prefer supporting the little guys.
IS YOUR PACKAGING RECYCLABLE?
The long-lasting nature of glass means that glass can be recycled forever. It never wears out as a raw material, so old bottles and jars can be remanufactured into new glass containers over and over and over again. We are actively working to source bio-degradable labels, until then, they can be removed for recycling.
Our cans are aluminium and also endlessly recyclable. And yes - certified BPA free.
DO YOU PASTEURISE YOUR COCONUT WATER?
Yes. We extract the coconut water then filter and fill and finally expose the filled product to heat, this is to ensure no bacteria remains. This gives CoAqua a shelf life of 24 months and doesn’t affect the minerals and re-hydration qualities. Coconut water can be very dangerous when 'raw', and the only way to ensure there are no nasties in the water when selling 'raw' is to bottle in plastic - and adding more plastics to the world is simply a bummer.
HOW LONG AFTER I OPEN COAQUA DOES IT STAY FRESH?
If you open a CoAqua and don’t finish drinking it, put it in the fridge and drink it within 72 hours.
HOW MUCH COCONUT WATER SHOULD I DRINK?
We know people enjoy drinking CoAqua but like everything else, you can always have too much of a good thing. Typically, we suggest no more than two to three bottles of coconut water per day.
IS COAQUA GLUTEN AND FAT FREE?
It’s true, our coconut water is totally gluten and fat free.
CAN I BE ALLERGIC TO COCONUT WATER?
Like any other food there is a chance that you could be allergic. If you find that you are, talking to your doctor or health professional is likely the smartest thing to do.
HOW MUCH DOES SHIPPING COST?
Shipping is currently from $7.99 in the North Island and $15.00 in the South Island.
WHAT IF I AM NOT HOME TO RECEIVE MY ORDER?
We send all orders out with authorization to leave at the address given. If you have specific notes for the courier on where you would like your cartons left, ie: at the back door, please make a note in the delivery notes section of your order.
If you wish to ensure the items are received by someone at the time of delivery, please have the order delivered to a place of work or other address where someone will be available to sign for the order.
HOW LONG WILL MY DELIVERY TAKE TO ARRIVE?
Delivery time in the North Island is usually 1-2 days for orders placed before 10am Monday to Thursday and 2-4 days for orders placed Friday to Sunday or to the South Island. Rural Deliveries may take a day or two longer.
Please note that if your order is placed during a sale period, dispatch can be delayed by a couple of days due to high volumes.
CAN I TRACK MY ORDER?
All products are dispatched via track and trace courier. When your order is dispatched you will receive an email from us confirming that your order has been dispatched and advising your tracking number which will link to our courier’s web page so that you can keep an eye on progress. Please note that data may be limited with rural deliveries.
DO YOU SHIP OUTSIDE OF NEW ZEALAND?
Sorry, we currently only ship within NZ.
MY ORDER HAS NOT ARRIVED. NOW WHAT?
If your orders hasn’t arrived after 7 working days it means something has gone awry. Please contact us at email@example.com with your order details so that we can help track it down. If lost in transit, we will happily ship another order at no cost.
WHAT IS YOUR RETURN POLICY?
We stand by our drinks! If you are in any way not happy with your purchase and the product is still within the best before date please get in touch with us to arrange a refund or replacement.
To complete your return, we require a receipt or proof of purchase, as well as the flavour and batch number.
Often, we would like the product back for further analysis. Please have your bottle or purchase available for pick up by pre-arranged courier, if applicable.
REFUNDS (If applicable)
If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, and a direct debit will be made to the bank account of your choosing. Do not get in touch with the retailer.
LATE OR MISSING REFUNDS (if applicable)
If you haven’t received a refund yet, first check your bank account again.
Next contact your bank. There is often some processing time before a refund is posted.

HOW DO I SHIP RETURNS?
To return your product, you should email us at email@example.com and we will arrange for a courier to pick up the product.
HOW DO I EARN REWARD POINTS?
To earn reward points, you first need to have an account on our store.
Please sign up for an account. Once you have an account you can then earn reward points by placing orders and completing any of the actions in our earning section for bonus points.
HOW DO I SPEND POINTS?
You can spend your points on any order you place through our store, once you have earned enough points to exchange for a coupon code. Please make sure you are logged in first! Then enter that Coupon Code in your Shopping Cart screen. Your Rewards Coupon discount will be applied to your order.
HOW MANY TIMES CAN I SHARE ON SOCIAL MEDIA?
You can share on social media our products or pages as many times as you would like! However we can only offer rewards for the first 10 times you share on social media.
HOW LONG WILL MY POINTS REMAIN ACTIVE?
Your points will remain valid as long as you have have an account with our store!
